Fuel Economy : (FE)
Fuel economy estimates are generated for diesel fueled vehicles using the carbon balance fuel economy calculations of CFR40, Section 600.113-88 and -93. This methodology, shown has been been specified by the Evironmental Protection Agency (EPA) as the method for estimating fuel economy for EPA tests. It is noteworthy that the equation below was utilized for both the pre and post tune condition tests.

For this program, the road load coeffecients utilized were developed on coastdown data presented by Southwest Research Institute and has been used in previous emissions testing for the same bus type. The mileage effciency was increased by over 11% on the DDC 6V92.
The above fuel efficiency related statements are taken from the final report on product testing from the laboratory that is jointly owned and funded by the California Air Resources Board (Division of California EPA) and the Los Angeles County Metro Transit Authority.
